Frontispiece {Webmaster's prerogative}: This is the BEDT (Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal) tank loco #13, photographed in 1950 in Long Island City by W. J. Edwards; it and its sisters were the last active steamers in New York City (in fact, almost anywhere), running in regular revenue service until ca. 1962, when they (except for #16) were dispersed to museums:
