Classification and Description of
Locomotives and Tenders

See the main PRR page for a full PRR INDEX for my site.

This is a complete reproduction of an original copy of the Pennsylvania Railroad's September 1956 Form 109-L, "Classification and Description of Locomotives and Tenders, giving detailed specifications of the last surviving steamers and most of the first second generation diesel-electric and straight electric locomotives.  By this time, the fabled K4S was being relegated to suburban service, the T1, Q1, and Q2 Duplexes and the S1 "Big Engine" and S2 turbine were gone, the giant Centipedes had been downgraded to freight pushers, the glamopurous ALCo PAs and Baldwin Sharks were winding down their service lives, and the gigantic FF1 juice-jack, "Big Liz", had long since been torched.

H. T. COVER

{two lines blanked out}*

* - The previous issue date and the authorizer's title were blanked out on the cover and more current information was overprinted.
